STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College won for the 10th time in its last 11 games by acquiring a 3-0 win over UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at K.B. Willett Arena.
The Green Knights (10-2) avenged their only loss in that 11-game stretch, a 5-2 loss to the Pointers on Nov. 14 at Resch Olympic Pavilion - the final game of six in a 12-day period.
St. Norbert and Stevens Point each had nine shots on goal in the first period but neither team was able to crack the scoring column.
The Green Knights broke through in the second period when
Jo Mahlum scored off an
Alexa Morrow assist at the 5:19 mark. Mahlum doubled the St. Norbert lead when she struck again at 10:06, posting her sixth goal of the season with assists going to
Natalie Hogan and
Courtnie Hogan.
St. Norbert salted the game away when
Briar Charchenko potted an unassisted goal at 14:43 of the third period.
St. Norbert outshot Stevens Point 32-21, including 23-12 over the last two periods.
Brynn Waisman made 21 saves for St. Norbert to get the shutout, while Anne Beck made 29 saves for the Pointers.
The Green Knights were 0-for-2 on the power play, while the Pointers were 0-for-1.
