MILWAUKEE – St. Norbert College got off to a lightning-fast start as the Green Knights posted a 5-1 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Kern Center.
The Green Knights (8-4, 6-1 NCHA) pumped in four goals in the first 11 minutes of the game to take control, going 3-for-3 on the power play in the process.
St. Norbert scored on its first shift of the game when
Brock Baker registered a goal just 23 second into the contest. The Green Knights doubled their lead when
Liam Fraser buried a power-play chance at the 5-minute mark. Fraser scored another power-play marker just 32 seconds later as St. Norbert suddenly found itself up 3-0.
The Raiders got a goal back at 6:32 on a Charlie Skinner goal, but the Green Knights would again push ahead by three on an
Adam Stacho power-play goal at 10:29 and chase MSOE goaltender Austin Schwab. The 4-1 lead held up into first intermission. It marked the first time the Green Knights scored at least four goals in the first period since potting five in a 10-2 win over Concordia University Wisconsin on Dec. 4, 2021.
St. Norbert scored the only goal of the last 40 minutes when
Carter Hottmann scored 1:26 into the second period.
Stacho finished with one goal and two assists for three points, while Fraser had two goals for two points. Hottmann had one goal and one assist for two points, with
Dayton Deics scoring two assists for two points.
The Green Knights outshot the Raiders 43-28.
Johnny Roberts made 27 saves for St. Norbert. Schwab made four saves in the start for MSOE, while Nick Stofcheck had 34 stops in relief.
St. Norbert was 3-for-8 on the power play, while MSOE was 0-for-2.
