Second Period Lifts St. Norbert To Sweep

DE PERE - St. Norbert College used a three-goal second period as the impetus behind a 4-2 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering at Cornerstone Community Center to sweep a home-and-home Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series.

The Green Knights (9-4, 7-1 NCHA) head into the semester break having won eight of their last 10 games.

St. Norbert trailed 2-1 after the first period with the Raiders scoring a pair of power-play goals. Kevin Paganini scored for MSOE at 15:03, but the Green Knights tied it up on Byron Hartley's first collegiate goal at the 17:56 mark. MSOE's Carson Jones then scored on the man advantage at 19:22 to give the Raiders the lead at first intermission.

The Green Knights gained momentum in the second period. Liam Fraser scored his seventh goal of the season with a score at 3:44. Mark Snarr scored the eventual game-winning goal with his first collegiate marker at 16:56. Will Stromp then picked up a tack-on goal with a score at 19:35 for a 4-2 lead.

MSOE had two power plays and St. Norbert one in the third period but neither team was able to score. The Raiders had 1:59 of extra-attacker time in the game's waning moments.

Stromp finished with one goal and two assists for three points. Fraser had one goal and one assist for two points, while Logan Dombrowsky had two assists for two points.

MSOE outshot St. Norbert 29-26. Hunter Garvey made 27 saves for the Green Knights, while Austin Schwab made 22 stops for the Raiders.

St. Norbert was 0-for-3 on the power play, while MSOE was 2-for-4.
