Green Knights Finish 2-0 at Tip-Off Tournament

DE PERE - St. Norbert College finished 2-0 at the Nicolet National Bank Tip-Off Tournament with a 79-65 win over The University of Olivet at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (2-2) started out hot from the outset, jumping out to a 22-10 lead. The Comets held a 6-5 lead with St. Norbert then going on a 17-4 run. Emma Morrisey canned three-straight 3-pointer to spark the spurt, with a pair of Rose Hahn free throws with 2:04 left in the corner giving St. Norbert a 12-point lead. Olivet then canned a trey but Hahn responded with one of her own for a 25-13 lead. The Green Knights settled on a 25-16 lead after one quarter.

Olivet would respond with a 11-2 run to open the quarter and tie the game at 27-27 with 4:10 left. A Morrisey 3 and a Hahn jumper put St. Norbert back ahead by five, a lead it would never relinquish. The Green Knights led 41-36 at halftime.

St. Norbert led 48-45 with 6:16 left in the third quarter before getting a 7-0 run to get some breathing room. Hahn had a basket followed by two free throws by Oakley Witteck. Morrisey's 3-pointer gave St. Norbert a 55-45 lead with 3:18 left. Taylor Thiry's conventional three-point play with 52 seconds left gave the Green Knights a 63-49 lead after three quarters.

The Green Knights would hold a double-digit lead throughout the fourth quarter.

St. Norbert shot 41.5 percent (27-for-65) from the floor. Thiry finished the game with 24 points and 11 rebounds and was named the Tournament MVP. Morrisey had 22 points and Hahn added nine points, with both also being named to the All-Tournament Team.

Olivet shot 41 percent (25-for-61) from the floor. Lily Connelly led the Comets with 19 points.
