Late Goal Leads To St. Norbert Sweep Of Marian

DE PERE - St. Norbert College was able to gain a sweep of Marian University in a home-and-home Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series with a 3-2 victory at Cornerstone Community Center.

Logan Dombrowsky corralled a puck in front of the St. Norbert bench, skated up the near wall into a breakaway opportunity and potted his fifth goal of the season for the game-winning goal at 14:36 of the third period.

St. Norbert (6-3, 5-1 NCHA) held off 80 seconds of Marian extra-attacker time to post its fifth win in its last six games.

Marian got the early jump when it scored on the game's opening shift, with Nick Cherkowski scoring just 21 seconds into the game. The Green Knights tied the game shortly thereafter with a Dayton Deics power-play goal at 3:01 for his first collegiate goal.

The Sabres would retake the lead when Cherkowski scored again, this time at 4:34 of the second period. Deics then registered another goal when he scored at 6:25 to level the game at 2-2.

Deics and Dombrowsky both finished with two-point games, with Deics scoring two goals and Dombrowsky adding an assist to his goal.

St. Norbert and Marian each had 22 shots on goal. Johnny Roberts registered 20 saves for the Green Knights, while Aaron Brunn made 19 stops for the Sabres.

St. Norbert was 1-for-3 on the power play, while Marian was 0-for-2.
