DE PERE - A tough third period led to a 5-2 loss for St. Norbert College against UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (6-2) and Pointers (3-4) were tied 2-2 after two periods. Stevens Point broke through with a power-play goal by Lauren Wincentsen with 8 minutes left. Sara Aadalen added an insurance goal just 42 seconds later, while Courtney Leising potted an empty-net goal with 17 seconds to go.
St. Norbert got the early jump when
Natalie Hogan scored just 80 seconds into the game. The Pointers would counter at 8:20 on a Leising marker for a 1-1 score through 20 minutes.
Stevens Point took a 2-1 lead on an Aadalen goal at 13:22 of the second period. The Green Knights responded with a power-play goal by
Courtnie Hogan at 17:46, her seventh overall goal of the season.
Courtnie Hogan finished with a goal and an assist for a two-point game.
Stevens Point outshot St. Norbert 29-18, including 13-3 in the third period. Bryann Waisman made 24 saves for the Green Knights, while Anne Beck made 16 stops for the Pointers.
Both teams were 1-for-4 on the power play.
