ANGOLA, Ind. - St. Norbert College bounced back to gain a split of a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series with a 4-0 win over Trine University at Thunder Ice Arena.
St. Norbert (4-3, 3-1 NCHA) scored a pair of goals on a major power play bridging the first and second periods and also received a 23-save shutout in goal from
Hunter Garvey, his first as a collegian.
Adam Stacho got the Green Knights on the board when he scored at 18:18 of the first period for his first goal of the season. Just 38 seconds later Trine's Matteo Ybarra was cited for a major kneeing penalty and a game misconduct. St. Norbert went to work when it had clean ice at the start of the second period, with
Logan Dombrowsky scoring at 1:24 for a 2-0 lead.
Liam Fraser capitalized again near the end of the major when he buried his third goal of the season at 3:46.
Braden Lindstrom scored his first goal of the season at 15:08 of the second period to give the Green Knights a 4-0 lead.
Trine would outshoot St. Norbert 12-4 in the third period but Garvey turned away every opportunity as the Green Knights killed a trio of Trine power-play opportunities in the final 20 minutes.
The Thunder outshot the Green Knights 23-22, but St. Norbert was 2-for-5 on the power play while the Thunder was 0-for-3.
