STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College fell behind by two goals in the first period and eventually dropped a 4-2 outcome to UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at K.B. Willett Arena.
Stevens Point took the lead when it scored 48 seconds into a five-minute major power play on a Conor Witherspoon goal at 7:59. The Green Knights killed off the rest of the penalty, but the Pointers pushed ahead 2-0 when Andrew Poulias scored at 14:53 for a margin that held up through first intermission.
St. Norbert got on the board at 8:08 of the second period when
T.J. Koufis scored his second goal of the young season. Stevens Point would convert a power play soon after, scoring off the draw at 10:43 on a marker by Brett Humberstone. The Green Knights would get back to within one when
Adam Stacho scored a power-play goal at 16:40.
The Green Knights couldn't get the equalizer in the third period, and the Pointers' David Hill scored an empty-net goal with 10 seconds remaining.
Stevens Point outshot St. Norbert 35-29.
Johnny Roberts made 31 saves for the Green Knights, while Alex Proctor had 27 saves for the Pointers.
St. Norbert was 1-for-3 on the power play, while Stevens Point was 2-for-5.
