Green Knights Stopped By Aurora

DE PERE - St. Norbert College dropped a 37-9 decision to Aurora University in its annual Homecoming contest in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Schneider Stadium.

St. Norbert fell behind when Aurora scored on a 12-yard run by Ian Luyando with 11:07 left in the first quarter. The Green Knights answered when Owen Kudick's run from 31 yards out was good for a touchdown, with the ensuing extra-point blocked for a 7-6 score. Aurora responded to take a 14-6 lead on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Luyando to Ty Pruett with 2:44 left in the period.

Aurora took a 21-6 lead with 10:07 left in the second quarter on a 19-yard strike from Luyando to Pruett. St. Norbert had a chance before halftime to cut into the deficit but the Spartans corralled an interception at their own 8-yard line. Aurora converted on a 72-yard touchdown pass from Luyando to Trey Madsen with 1:53 left. The Green Knights then fumbled in their own end, and Aurora needed three plays to score on a 3-yard run by Jhe'Quay Chretin with 40 seconds left before halftime.

The only second-half points in the fourth quarter came when Aurora scored a safety and St. Norbert connected on a 35-yard field goal by Dalton Moyse.

Aurora outgained St. Norbert 478-232 in total offense. Kudick rushed for 82 yards on 13 carries and one touchdown. Peyton Lyon completed 10 of 30 passes for 113 yards. Mitch Van Vooren caught four passes for 64 yards.

Chretin rushed 29 times for 130 yards and one touchdown, while Luyando completed 18 of 34 passes for 243 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Madsen caught four passes for 93 yards.

Sam Barnett led St. Norbert defensively with 14 tackles and an interception. Logan Dorner added eight stops and Kyle Santos seven.
