DE PERE - St. Norbert College picked up a big win with a 2-1 victory over nationally ranked UW-Eau Claire to open a two-game non-conference series at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (10-2-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two periods and then held off third-period pressure from the Blugolds (10-3), ranked No. 9 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll.
St. Norbert had a pair of power-play chances in the first 10 minutes of the game but came up empty. The Green Knights were able to convert moments later however, when
Allison Jacobsen posted her first goal of the season on a redirected puck at the 12:44 mark.
The Green Knights doubled their lead when they finished off a pretty 2-on-1 opportunity, with

Kelsey Ross for her sixth goal of the season at 8:18 of the second period.
St. Norbert's 2-0 lead would hold up until Eau Claire's Hallie Sheridan scored through traffic at 13:25 of the third period. The Blugolds kept up their pressure, but despite 80 seconds of extra-attacker time could not find the equalizer. Eau Claire was cited for a penalty with 40 seconds remaining, helping the Green Knights salt away the victory.
Eau Claire outshot St. Norbert 21-14.
Brynn Waisman made 20 saves for the Green Knights, while Stephanie Martin had 12 stops for the Blugolds.
St. Norbert was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Eau Claire was 0-for-1.
