GENEVA, Ill. - St. Norbert College put 66 shots on goal but converted only once in a 3-1 loss to Aurora University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Fox Valley Ice Arena.
The Green Knights peppered Aurora goaltender Kolby Thornton, who turned away 65 shots to turn away the St. Norbert attack.
St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead when
Adam Stacho scored off a
T.J. Koufis assist at the 7:41 mark of the first period. The Green Knights outshot the Spartans 23-8 in the first period, but came out of it tied 1-1 after Aurora's Adam Keyes scored at 18:19.
Aurora swung the game its way for good with a pair of second-period goals. Jack Jaunich scored at 7:39 and Alec Schwab added an insurance goal at 18:13 for a 3-1 lead.
St. Norbert outshot Aurora 24-10 in the third period but did not score, including 95 seconds of extra-attacker time.
The Green Knights held a 66-29 shots advantage overall.
Johnny Roberts made 26 saves for St. Norbert.
St. Norbert was 0-for-5 on the power play, while Aurora was 1-for-4.
