Box Score GENEVA, Ill. - St. Norbert College couldn't hold on to a late lead and dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Aurora University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Fox Valley Ice Arena.
The Green Knights took a 2-0 lead when
Curtis Hammond scored with 6:03 remaining. But Aurora rallied with a power-play goal from Adam Keyes with 2:23 to go and an extra-attacker goal from Hassan Akl with 5.7 seconds left.
Aurora then scored the overtime game-winning goal with 9.7 seconds left on a marker by Derrick Budz.
St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by
Michael McChesney at the 13:53 mark of the first period. That goal would hold up all the way through the game until Hammond's goal.
The Green Knights outshot the Spartans 49-37.
Colby Entz made 34 saves for St. Norbert, while Kolby Thornton made 47 stops for Aurora.
St. Norbert was 1-for-6 on the power play, while Aurora was 1-for-5.
