ANGOLA, Ind. - St. Norbert College suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime loss to Trine University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Thunder Ice Arena.
The Green Knights led 2-0 late in the game, until Trine scored shorthanded with 2:57 remaining and then tied the game with 1:40 left. Brendan Prappas then scored at 1:10 of overtime to win the game for the Thunder.
St. Norbert took a 2-0 lead on a power-play goal by
Michael McChesney at 6:58 and a marker from
Brendan Mark at 16:12 of the first period. Those goals would be the only scoring until Trine's late outburst.
McChesney had an assist for a two-point game for the Green Knights.
St. Norbert outshot Trine 32-28.
Johnny Roberts made 25 stops for the Green Knights. Christian Wong-Ramos made 19 saves in the final 40:58 for Trine.
St. Norbert was 1-for-2 on the power play, while Trine was 0-for-6.
