DE PERE - St. Norbert College got three goals in a stretch of almost six minutes which proved to be the difference in a 5-2 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights (13-7-2, 10-4-1 NCHA) snapped a 1-1 tie with the three-goal outburst in the second period.
Michael Spethmann finished at 12:19 to put St. Norbert ahead 2-1.
Braden Lindstrom then rang iron but the puck found the inside of the cage for a 3-1 advantage at 14:26.
Liam Fraser scored at 17:48 for a 4-1 advantage.
MSOE would get a goal back before second intermission when Christian Sabin scored a power-play goal at 18:44. The score would stay 4-2 until
Michael McChesney's shorthanded empty-net goal at 19:53 of the third period closed out the scoring.
The Raiders took the early lead on a Matt Hanewall goal at 5:46 of the the first period.
Adam Stacho then scored a big goal for the Green Knights, tying the game at 1-1 at 19:06 of the first period.
McChesney and Fraser each recorded assists for two-point games for the Green Knights.
St. Norbert outshot MSOE 31-23, including 14-7 in the third period.
Johnny Roberts made 21 saves for the Green Knights, with Austin Schwab turning away 26 shots for the Raiders.
St. Norbert was 0-for-2 on the power play, while MSOE was 0-for-3.
