DE PERE - St. Norbert College got its first blemish on its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association schedule for 2022-23 with a 3-3 tie against Lake Forest College at Resch Olympic Pavilion. The Foresters took the extra league point with a 2-1 shootout win.
St. Norbert (13-3-3, 9-0-1 NCHA) held a 3-2 lead until Lake Forest punched in an extra-attacker goal when Samantha Shoebottom scored with 51 seconds remaining. Each team would only have one shot on goal in overtime.
The Green Knights took a 2-0 lead with a pair of second-period goals.
Kelsey Ross scored at 6:47 and
Courtnie Hogan followed at 12:24. Shoebottom scored at 16:58 of the second period to bring the Foresters to within 2-1 at second intermission.
The Foresters tied it at 2-2 when Macy Gehrke scored at 7:05 of the third period, but
Josephine Mahlum put St. Norbert ahead at 10:46.
Ross had an assist for St. Norbert's only two-point game.
St. Norbert outshot Lake Forest 32-23.
Brynn Waisman had 20 saves for the Green Knights, while Hannah Turnage had 29 stops for the Foresters.
Both teams were 0-for-3 on the power play.
