DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored twice in the last seven minutes to push past Lake Forest College 2-1 in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights, ranked No. 15 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, improved to 13-3-2 and 9-0 in the NCHA after a win in the first game of a two-game NCHA series.
After a scoreless first period, Lake Forest scored at 5:26 of the second period on a Holly Kiernan goal. That marker would hold up until deep into the third period.
Kelsey Ross scored at 13:46 of the third off assists from
Bailey Brunnhoelzl and
Ava Jaschke. Ross then scored again - her ninth goal of the season - with the game-winning score at 16:15 off helpers from
Gabby Holtz and
Margaret Wohlleber.
Lake Forest would get just 14 seconds of extra-attacker time and did not get an equalizer.
St. Norbert outshot Lake Forest 36-20, and each team went 0-for-3 on the power play.
Brynn Waisman made 19 saves for the Green Knights, while Hannah Turnage made 34 stops for the Foresters.
