St. Norbert Locks Down Concordia Wisconsin

DE PERE - St. Norbert College held Concordia University Wisconsin to just one second-half field goal and pulled away to an 81-36 romp in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (13-3, 9-0 NACC) led 39-24 at halftime and then opened the third quarter on a 22-0 run to see the lead rupture into a 61-24 edge with 3:08 left in the quarter. Olivia DeCleene, Chloe Gruszynski and Natalie Cerrato cashed in treys during the run, while Kaycee Gierczak converted a traditional three-point play. Concordia would get two free throws at the 2:49 mark, but St. Norbert would score six more points and took a 67-26 lead into the final 10 minutes when Taylor Thiry's triple beat the buzzer.

St. Norbert, which would lead by as many as 49 points in the fourth quarter, did not allow a second-half basket until Abigail Hafemann's layup with 2:19 remaining. Concordia (8-7, 7-3) was 1-for-16 (6.3 percent) from the floor in the second half.

The Green Knights took an 11-3 lead with 4:12 left in the first quarter. The Falcons would get the deficit down to five points three times, with Lily Guerra's 3-pointer beating the buzzer for a 16-11 count after 10 minutes. St. Norbert led 18-13 with 8:31 left in the second quarter, but things then escalated quickly when the Green Knights went on a 15-0 run.
