Green Knights Shoot Past Stars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College remained unbeaten in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with a dominating 86-47 win over Dominican University at Igini Sports Forum.

The Green Knights (14-3, 10-0 NACC) led 24-19 after the first period before a 26-5 second-quarter blitz put the visitor ahead 50-24 at halftime.

St. Norbert scored the first six points of the game before the Stars rallied for leads of 7-6 and 9-8. The Green Knights went on an 8-0 run to take a 16-9 lead, capped by a Casey Jepson layup with 3:58 left in the period. St. Norbert built two eight-point leads before taking a 24-19 lead after 10 minutes.

Things again escalated quickly, as St. Norbert held Dominican scoreless for the first 8:13 of the second quarter in taking a 44-19 lead. Gierczak had eight of St. Norbert's 20 points during the run, while Emma Morrisey added seven. Jepson's hoop just before the buzzer gave the Green Knights a 50-24 lead at the rest stop.

St. Norbert saw its lead balloon to as many as 41 points in the third quarter at 72-31 on a Taylor Thiry layup with 58 seconds left in the period. The Green Knights' largest lead in the fourth quarter was 40 points.

The Green Knights shot 48.1 percent from the floor, connecting on 37 of 77 field-goal attempts. St. Norbert also held a commanding 52-29 rebounding advantage, with 20 offensive caroms. Gierczak had 22 points with seven rebounds, while Morrisey had 13 points. Chloe Gruszynski had 10 points and eight rebounds. Olivia DeCleene again stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds, nine assists and nine steals in 23 minutes.

Dominican shot 33.3 percent (16-for-48) from the floor. Kameron Goodman led the Stars with 13 points.
