DE PERE - St. Norbert College remained unbeaten in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with a 66-46 win over Rockford University on Connie Tilley Court at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights (12-3, 8-0 NACC) and Regents went up and down the floor in the first quarter, with Rockford eventually taking an 18-14 lead with 2:36 left in the period after an 8-0 run.
Taylor Thiry's putback hoop stopped the run, and
Lindsey Lettner's 3-pointer with 1:23 left in the stanza for a 19-18 St. Norbert edge held up through the rest of the period.
St. Norbert led 25-21 with 6:04 left in the second quarter before going on a decisive 13-2 run before halftime.
Olivia DeCleene's basket and
Emma Morrisey's 3-pointer put the Green Knights up 30-21.
Kaycee Gierczak converted a pair of free throws and Morrisey canned a jumper for a 34-21 lead with 3:37 left. After Rockford converted a pair of free throws, DeCleene followed with a jumper and then a steal and fast break layup for a 38-23 lead at halftime.
The Green Knights held a 44-32 lead with 3:47 left in the third quarter before a 7-0 run to close out the period.
Rose Hahn drained a pair of free throws, and
Natalie Cerrato converted a putback with 47 seconds left. Morrisey's trey just before the period ended gave St. Norbert a 51-32 lead.
St. Norbert never led by less than 13 points in the fourth quarter.
DeCleene paced the Green Knights by flirting with an exceptionally rare quadruple double. DeCleene finished with 10 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds and six steals, committing just one turnover in 36 minutes. DeCleene's 12 assists are the the most for a St. Norbert player in a single game since 1994.
The Green Knights shot 44.6 percent (25-for-56) from the floor. Morrisey had a team-high 14 points, while
Chloe Gruszynski added 11 points and nine rebounds.
Rockford shot 37.2 percent (16-for-43) from the floor. Tyra Clark led the Regents with 15 points.
