DE PERE - St. Norbert College broke open a close game with three second-half goals en route to a 4-0 win over Aurora University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights got the only first-half goal when Emily Gorzlanczyk converted a penalty-kick opportunity at the 28:32 mark. That goal would hold up into halftime for a 1-0 lead.
St. Norbert doubled its lead early in the second half when
Mallory Names tucked a shot into the upper-right corner of the cage off a
Kait Schweitzer assist at 48:06. It was Names' third goal of the season.
The Green Knights took all mystery out of the outcome midway through the second half when
Melanie Simon finished a header off a Names corner kick at 64:44.
Abby Thompson followed with a breakaway goal - her sixth marker of the season - off an
Amelia Carlson assist at 68:48.
St. Norbert outshot Aurora 13-8 and had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
Haley Leadingham had four shots for the Green Knights, while Names and Thompson had three apiece.
Lilly Collins made three saves in 65 minutes for St. Norbert, while
Carlene Goral made two stops in 25 minutes of relief.
