AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College opened its spring break trip to Florida with a pair of losses to Springfield College, dropping decisions of 5-1 and 4-1 at the Lake Myrtle Complex.
St. Norbert (0-5) scored its lone run in the opener in the first inning, when
Nick Volz led off with a double and
Adam Cootway drove him in two hitters later with a two-base hit of his own. Springfield responded with four runs on three hits in the third inning and added a tack-on run in the fifth inning.
The Green Knights had five hits in the game and left five runners on base.
Mason Sefcik took the loss, allowing three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in five innings pitched.
In the nightcap, the Green Knights scored first when
Eric Kramer led off the third inning with a walk and came around to score on
Sebastien Dubois' triple in the top of the third inning. Springfield got one run in the third inning and pulled ahead with three runs on five hits in the fourth inning.
Dubois was 2-for-3 with a double and triple for St. Norbert, which had four hits.
Luke Steebs took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits with one walk and one strikeout in four innings pitched.
