Balanced Attack Paces St. Norbert in Cream City

MILWAUKEE - St. Norbert College benefited from a balanced scoring output and went on to stake a 55-41 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Hotchkin Arena.

The Green Knights (15-7, 12-3 NACC) had eight players reach the scoring column, all posting between five and 11 points.

St. Norbert got off to a quick start when Emma Morrisey buried a 3-pointer on the first possession of the game and Kaycee Gierczak added two free throws a minute later for a 5-0 lead. The Raiders would score the next five points to tie the score 5-5, but the Green Knights would counter with a 15-0 run to take control. A basket by Chloe Gruszynski was followed by a Casey Jepson 3-pointer. Madison Herdina, Morrisey and Herdina again all connected for a 16-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Jessica Boerner and Jepson had baskets for a 20-7 lead with 8:11 left in the second quarter.

The Green Knights kept a double-digit lead for most of the rest of the second quarter, leading 29-16 at halftime.

St. Norbert saw a 19-point lead early in the third quarter cut down to eight points with 1:24 left in the period, but a Boerner steal and layup put St. Norbert ahead 43-33 at the end of the third quarter. The Green Knights kept their double-digit lead the entire fourth quarter.

The Green Knights shot 42.9 percent (21-for-49) from the floor. Jepson had a team-high 11 points. Morrisey and Olivia DeCleene had eight points apiece, while Gruszynski, Herdina and Kaycee Gierczak all had six points each. Boerner and Mary Cravillion each had five points.
