DE PERE - St. Norbert College won its second one-goal game in its series against Trine University and consquently earned a sweep with a 3-2 victory in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights improved to 16-6 overall and 10-3 in the NCHA. The 16 wins are the second-most in a regular season with three games still remaining on the 25-game slate. The 2013-14 Green Knights won 17 regular-season games.
Following a scoreless first period, St. Norbert took a 2-0 lead in the second period.
Jordan Moore rang up a power-play goal at the 1:34 mark, while
Courtnie Hogan scored at 10:49. Moore's goal was her eighth of the season, while Hogan's goal was her third of the year. Trine cut its deficit in half with a power-play goal at 11:54. The Green Knights carried a 2-1 lead into second intermission.
Abbie Tollefson then scored her first goal of the season with a marker at 5:43 of the third period to give St. Norbert a 3-1 lead. Trine's Kailey Mleko scored a power-play goal with 3:51 remaining, but the Thunder would get no closer.
St. Norbert outshot Trine 31-23.
Ashley Ommen made 21 saves for the Green Knights, while Ryleigh Furlong made 28 stops for the Thunder.
The Green Knights were 1-for-3 on the power play, while Trine was 2-for-5.
