DE PERE - St. Norbert College slowly pulled away and defeated Illinois Institute of Technology 81-42 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights (14-7, 11-3 NACC) led from start to finish, jumping out to an early 15-2 lead.
Kaycee Gierczak had a pair of baskets, while
Chloe Gruszynski added a conventional three-point play during the run. St. Norbert held a 17-10 lead at the end of the first period.
After the Scarlet Hawks scored to open the second quarter, St. Norbert went on a 15-2 run to take firm control of the game.
Jessica Boerner had 10 points during the run, while
Natalie Cerrato added a 3-pointer. St. Norbert led 36-17 at halftime.
St. Norbert bolted out to a 63-27 lead after the third period, and led by as many as 40 points in the fourth quarter.
The Green Knights shot 50.8 percent (33-for-65) from the floor. Boerner finished with a career-high 20 points in just 19 minutes of action. Gierczak finished with a double-double, totaling 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Emma Morrisey finished with 12 points.
Olivia DeCleene dished out 10 assists.
Illinois Tech shot 30.8 percent (16-for-52) from the floor. Deriniece Moton led the Scarlet Hawks with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
