DE PERE - St. Norbert College got its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Slaats Cup Playoffs off to a solid start with a 4-0 win over Trine University in Game 1 of a Quarterfinal Series at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (18-8) need just a tie to advance to next Friday's semifinals. Trine (9-16-1) needs to win Game 2 and then claim the ensuing 20-minute mini-game to steal the series and advance.
St. Norbert and Trine skated to a scoreless and penalty-free first period, with just seven shots combined reaching goal. The Green Knights broke through in the second period, when 
Maddux Federici scored at the 5:58 mark for a 1-0 lead. That goal held up through second intermission.
The Green Knights added to their lead when 
Eve Parker scored just 83 seconds into the third period for a 2-0 edge. 
Margaret Wohlleber registered a power-play goal at 7:23, while 
Gaby Turer cashiered an empty-net goal at 16:29 for the final margin.
Turer added an assist for a two-point game, while 
Jordan Moore added a pair of helpers for the Green Knights.
St. Norbert outshot Trine 24-22. 
Brynn Waisman made 22 saves for fashion the shutout for the Green Knights, while Ryleigh Furlong made 20 saves for the Thunder.
The Green Knights were 1-for-1 on the power play, while the Thunder was 0-for-3.
