ADRIAN, Mich. - St. Norbert College closed out the regular season with a 6-2 loss to Adrian College in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Arrington Ice Arena.
The Green Knights (20-5, 16-2 NCHA) will host a NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs Quarterfinal Series next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 18-19), with both games at 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Center.
St. Norbert and Adrian (24-1, 18-0) skated to a 1-1 tie after the first period. Adrian's Sam Ruffin scored at 5:03, while
Carter Hottmann scored his ninth goal of the season with a marker at 8:34.
Adrian scored four consecutive goals in the second period to open up a 5-1 lead. Zach Goberis (2:32), Ty Enns on the power play (7:39), Trevor Coykendall (8:26) and Matus Spodniak on the power play (9:54) gave the Bulldogs a four-goal lead.
Peyton Frantti scored his 14th goal of the season with a tally at 14:05. Spodniak scored shorthanded at 19:17 of the second period to close out the scoring.
Adrian outshot St. Norbert 34-29. The Green Knights were 0-for-7 on the power play, while Adrian was 2-for-4.
Johnny Roberts made 21 saves for the Green Knights, with
Colby Entz making seven stops in relief. Cameron Gray turned away 27 shots for the Bulldogs.
