DE PERE - St. Norbert College got off to a quick start and never looked back as the Green Knights dispatched Alverno College 102-41 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights (13-6, 10-2 NACC) had 14 different players reach the scoring column and canned 42 of 76 field-goal attempts, good for a 55.3 percent marksmanship rate. It was the 13th time in school history St. Norbert reached the 100-point mark, and the first since 2015. St. Norbert's 31 assists was the second-most in a game in program history.
St. Norbert jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first 4:39 of the game.
Emma Morrisey opened the scoring with a 3-pointer, followed by a
Jessica Boerner layup. Morrissey and Boerner then connected again on baskets. Following an Alverno hoop,
Chloe Gruszynski and
Casey Jepson's baskets put the Green Knights up by 11. St. Norbert led 22-11 at the end of the first quarter.
The Green Knights kept the lead in the teens until
Natalie Cerrato's basket put St. Norbert ahead 38-17 with 5:15 left in the second quarter. A Cerrato free throw sent St. Norbert into halftime with a 50-23 lead.
St. Norbert opened the third quarter with a 16-0 run to build a 66-23 lead. The Green Knights scored on their first five possessions of the half, with a pair of baskets each from
Kaycee Gierczak and Boerner and a 3-pointer by
Olivia DeCleene. St. Norbert's lead eventually ruptured to 77-26 at the end of the third quarter, and the Green Knights' largest lead of the game was the final score.
Gierczak and
Mary Cravillion led St. Norbert with 14 points apiece. Boerner added 12 points, while
Mari Beltran posted 10 points. DeCleene had eight assists in just 14 minutes of action. The Green Knights held a commanding 54-23 rebounding advantage and had 27 second-chance points.
Alverno shot 32.1 percent from the floor, making 18 of 56 field-goal attempts. Angie Reutgen led the Inferno with eight points.
