St. Norbert Shoots Down Marian In Record Night

DE PERE – St. Norbert College canned a school-record 16 three-point field goals and romped to a 91-70 win over Marian University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
 
The Green Knights (6-1, 3-0) made 11 of their 16 3-pointers in the second half to eclipse the previous record of 14 set against Monmouth College on Jan. 25, 2002, and Lawrence University on Dec. 5, 2000.
 
St. Norbert was cool from distance initially, making just 3 of 14 shots from beyond the arc in the first quarter. The game was tied at 13-13 when Emma Morrisey canned a triple with 1:56 left in the period, and Natalie Cerrato followed up with a triple with 31 seconds left for a 19-13 lead at the end of the period.
 
The Green Knights held a 28-26 lead with 4:46 left in the second quarter before going on 15-4 run before halftime. Rose Hahn, Casey Jepson and Cerrato cashed in with 3-pointers during the run to help build a 43-30 halftime lead.
 
St. Norbert broke the game open with an impressive offensive display in the third quarter, pouring in 34 points. The Green Knights led 54-37 with 7 minutes left in the period before going on a blistering 16-2 run over the next 3:28. Jepson, Cerrato, Morrisey and Lindsey Lettner all rang in 3s during the run. St. Norbert was 13-for-18 (72.2 percent) from the floor and 6-for-8 (75 percent) from distance in the third quarter, after which the Green Knights led 77-49.
 
St. Norbert shot 47.9 percent from the floor, making 35 of 73 field-goal attempts. The Green Knights also held a commanding 43-27 rebounding advantage, with 17 offensive rebounds leading to 20 second-chance points. Kaycee Gierczak led the Green Knights with 17 points, while Morrisey added 14 points and seven assists. Cerrato had 12 points, followed by Jepson with 11 and Hahn with a career-high 10. Olivia DeCleene finished with 10 assists, seven points, four steals and three rebounds.
 
Marian shot 50 percent from the floor, making 28 of 56 field-goal attempts. Paris Harris led the Sabres with 15 points, while Kiara Williams added 14.
