MEQUON - St. Norbert College bounced back and remained unbeaten in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play with a 4-1 win over Concordia University Wisconsin at Ozaukee Ice Center.
The Green Knights (6-2-1, 5-0 NCHA), ranked No. 5 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, snapped a modest two-game losing streak in a win that saw the visitor outshoot the host Falcons by a whopping 58-24 margin.
St. Norbert scored twice in the last minute of the first period to take a 2-0 lead.
Braden Lindstrom scored at 19:30, and
Michael McChesney followed up at 19:52 to give the Green Knights momentum going into the first rest stop.
The Green Knights didn't wait long to add to their lead when
Ben Schmidling scored a power-play goal at 2:41 of the second period. St. Norbert would keep its 3-0 lead the rest of the period, a stanza that saw it outshoot Concordia 29-8.
Concordia went on a major power play at 7:08 of the third period and Jaron Ketterman converted at 8:51. The Green Knights got the goal back at 9:27, when
Liam Fraser scored a shorthanded, empty-net goal.
Fraser finished with a three-point game on one goal and two assists. Schmidling added an assist for a two-point game.
Johnny Roberts made 23 saves for St. Norbert, while Gabe Rosek made 54 stops for the Falcons.
Both teams went 1-for-4 on the power play.
