DE PERE - St. Norbert College outshot Augsburg University by almost a 2-to-1 margin but it was the Auggies who cashed in at the pay window as the Green Knights dropped a 2-1 decision to settle for a split in a two-game non-conference series at Cornerstone Community Center.
Special teams told the story, with fourth-ranked Augsburg (6-3-1) going 2-for-4 on the power play while fifth-ranked St. Norbert (8-3-1) came up empty on three man-advantage chances.
After a scoreless first period, Augsburg took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Daniel Chladek at 4:51 of the second period. St. Norbert answered when
Carter Hottmann scored from the slot at 8:20 of the second period.
Augsburg took the lead at 1:23 of the third period when Dylan Schneider scored a power-play goal. The Green Knights had two power plays in the third period but did not score, and also came up empty on 35 seconds of extra-attacker time.
St. Norbert outshot Augsburg 36-19.
Colby Entz made 17 saves for the Green Knights, while Samuel Vyletelka made 35 stops for the Auggies.
