DE PERE - St. Norbert College couldn't get an elusive third goal for the second night in a row and lost 4-2 to UW-Eau Claire to get swept in a non-conference series at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights (5-2-1) fell behind 1-0 when Eau Claire's Quinn Green scored shorthanded at 17:02 of the first period. The Green Knights would get back to even at 1-1 on a
Liam Fraser goal from
Michael Spethmann at 18:39 and carry that score into first intermission.
St. Norbert would take a 2-1 lead for the second time in the series when Fraser scored a power-play marker off helpers from
Michael McChesney and
Adam Stacho just 42 seconds into the second period. Eau Claire would answer again when Ryan Green scored off a faceoff in the St. Norbert zone at 3:14, and Austin Becker registered a goal at 6:17 for a 3-2 lead. Green scored an extra-attacker goal on a delayed penalty at 14:08 for a 4-2 lead.
The Green Knights would get a five-minute power play in the third period but come up empty, and also did not score with 2:08 of extra-attacker time at the game's end.
St. Norbert outshot Eau Claire 27-17, including 12-1 in the third period.
Colby Entz made 13 saves for St. Norbert, while Max Gutjahr had 25 stops for the Blugolds.
St. Norbert was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Eau Claire was 0-for-2.
