Green Knights Close Out Sweep Of Lawrence

APPLETON - St. Norbert College scored the last four goals of the game to pull away and pick up a 7-3 win over Lawrence University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Appleton Family Ice Center.

The fourth-ranked Green Knights, who beat the Vikings 3-2 Friday in De Pere, improved to 3-0-1 overall and 2-0 in NCHA play.

Michael McChesney picked up his third goal of the series when he got the Green Knights on the board at 9:#2 of the first period. Carter Hottmann then registered a power-play goal at 19:21 for a 2-0 lead at first intermission.

Lawrence answered in the second period when Tyler Jensen scored at 2:48 and Zach Lodes picked on a 4-on-4 goal at 11:04. Brock Baker's power-play goal at 13:07 put St. Norbert ahead briefly at 3-2, but the Vikings Cory Checco scored 53 seconds later. Mitchell Zambon pushed St. Norbert ahead late in the second period with a goal at 16:16 and a 4-3 lead.

Zambon doubled St. Norbert's lead with a goal at 5:34. The Green Knights then killed off a major penalty and Michael Spethmann salted the game away with a goal at 16:46 of the third period. Hottmann's empty-netter with 40 seconds left closed out the scoring.

Zambon posted his first career multi-goal game with two goals and one assist for a career-high three points. Curtis Hammond registered four assists for a four-point outing. Hottmann finished with two goals for two points, while Dayton Deics and Brendan Mark both had two assists apiece.

St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 37-33. Colby Entz made 30 saves for the Green Knights, while Brian Tallieu also had 30 saves for Lawrence.

St. Norbert was 2-for-5 on the power play, while Lawrence was 0-for-6.
