Roberts' 44 Saves Leads To Tie For Green Knights

STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College got 44 saves from junior goaltender Johnny Roberts en route to a 1-1 overtime tie with UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at K.B. Willett Arena.

St. Norbert, which topped the Pointers 3-2 in overtime in Friday's series opener, benefited from Roberts' career-high saves total. Roberts' 44 saves included a whopping 10 stops in the five-minute overtime period.

Following a scoreless first period, St. Norbert took the lead on a Brendan Aird goal at 5:42 of the second period, scoring off a Ben Schmidling assist. The Green Knights would hold the lead until the Pointers' Mick Heneghan scored at 12:12 of the third period.

St. Norbert would have a power-play opportunity starting 11 seconds after Heneghan's goal, and Stevens Point would have a power-play chance in overtime, but neither team converted.

Stevens Point held a 45-25 shots advantage, including 33-15 in the last two periods and overtime. Roberts had a 15-save second period.

The Pointers were 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Green Knights were 0-for-2.
