DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened it season with a win for the first time since the 2015-16 season with a 4-2 victory over Hamline University in the opener of a two-game non-conference series at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
St. Norbert jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Pipers in the first period.
Lexi Bonfe scored just 4:01 into the game, with
Morgan Olson adding a power-play goal at 8:56.
Hamline would respond with two goals in the second period to tie the game 2-2. Hannah Dorsey scored a power-play marker at 7:30, while Emme Nelson followed at 8:40. The Green Knights would wrest the momentum back before second intermission when Olson scored her second power-play goal of the game, converting at 17:30.
Margaret Wohlleber added an insurance goal at 8:04 of the third period. Hamline would get an extra attacker on the ice at 1:23 but did not cut into its deficit.
Olson's two goals was the lone multi-point game for St. Norbert.
The Green Knights outshot Hamline 35-19.
Brynn Waisman made 17 saves for St. Norbert, while Olivia Rinzel made 31 stops for the Pipers.
St. Norbert was 2-for-4 on the power play, while Hamline was 1-for-2.
