WAUWATOSA - St. Norbert College picked up a badly needed road win as the Green Knights defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College 2-1 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Warriors Soccer Field.
Both teams battled to a scoreless first half, with St. Norbert outshooting Wisconsin Lutheran 12-3 in the first 45 minutes.
St. Norbert broke through early in the second half when
Haley Leadingham scored her fifth goal of the season, finishing off a
Mallory Names assist at 48:42. That goal would hold up until the last two minutes when St. Norbert's
Abby Thompson would score an unassisted insurance goal at 88:12. Thompson's goal - her eighth of the year - proved to be valuable when Wisconsin Lutheran's Katie Wasiak scored with 13 seconds remaining.
The Green Knights outshot the Warriors 24-5 for the match. Leadingham finished with six shots, while Names had five, Thompson four and
Kait Schweitzer three.
Lilly Collins made one save for St. Norbert, while Christian Casimir had nine saves for the Warriors.
