DE PERE - St. Norbert College won for the second-straight outing as the Green Knights posted a 3-1 triumph over Rockford University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (7-9, 6-4 NACC) held a commanding 33-2 edge in shots en route the win.
St. Norbert got on the scoreboard when
Haley Leadingham scored her sixth goal of the season when she connected on a breakaway from about 15 yards out at the 19:46 mark of the first half.
Abby Thompson then tripled the Green Knights' lead late in the first half on a pair of goals 26 seconds apart. Thompson blasted a shot from about 25 yards out at 40:35 off a
Michelle Piro assist, and then cashed in on a breakaway at 41:01 off a
Mallory Names assist. Thompson now has a team-high 10 goals on the season.
Rockford got a breakaway goal from Rianna Tovar at 53:44 for the only second-half goal.
Thompson finished with seven shots for St. Norbert, while Names, Leadingham and
Kait Schweitzer all had five shots apiece.
Lilly Collins worked the first 59 minutes in goal for St. Norbert, while
Carlene Goral finished up with 31 minutes of relief. Morgan Dolphin made 17 saves for the Regents.
