LAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College extended its winning streak to 13 games by finishing off a sweep of its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series with Lake Forest College with a 4-1 victory at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Green Knights (14-3, 10-0 NCHA) took a 1-0 lead after the first period after
Max Brainin scored his first goal of the season off
Tim Nicksic and
Michael Spethmann assists with 1:42 left in the period.
St. Norbert scored early in the second period when
Brendan Aird scored his second marker of the year at 2:37, with
Ben Schmidling and
Michael McChesney assisting. The Green Knights would take the 2-0 lead into second intermission.
Lake Forest briefly got back into the game when Zach Leonard scored at 2:49 of the third period. St. Norbert would retake a two-goal lead when Carther Hottmann scored for the sixth time this season with a goal at 8:25 off assists from Nicksic and
Adam Stacho. Spethmann then sealed the win with his third goal of the season, scoring at 15:37 off helpers from Stacho and
Jordon Halverson.
Spethmann, Nicksic and Stacho all finished with two-point games.
St. Norbert outshot Lake Forest 39-20.
Colby Entz finished with 16 saves in 51 1/2 minutes of work, with
Johnny Roberts making three saves in relief. Carson Pulin made 35 saves for the Foresters.
St. Norbert was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Lake Forest was 0-for-4.
