Green Knights Fall At Edgewood In Overtime

MADISON - St. Norbert College was extended to overtime by Edgewood College and ended up dropping a 75-64 decision in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Todd Wehr Edgedome.

The Green Knights (10-5, 6-2 NACC) fell out of first place with the loss, and now trails the Eagles (6-7, 5-1) in the standings.

St. Norbert made just 1 of 9 field-goal attempts in overtime and never led in the extra session. The Green Knights tied the game at 63-63 on an Evan Glaser basket with 3:25 to go, but Edgewood closed overtime on a 12-1 run.

St. Norbert led 43-34 with 14:49 to play after a Nick Smoldt 3-pointer, and still held a 49-43 edge with 10:49 left after a Carson Talbert hoop. But Edgewood would get back into the game with a 9-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 52-49 lead with 6:49 to go, during which time the Green Knights missed nine consecutive shots. St. Norbert got a quick five points from Garrett Grzesk to retake the lead at 54-52 with 5:10 left. St. Norbert still led 61-58 with 1:55 left after a Parker Lawrence jumper, but Edgewood tied the game on an Adam Baierl second-chance 3-pointer with 1:23 to go. The Green Knights had three shots in the final 1:05 to potentially take the lead but did not score.

The Green Knights held a 28-23 lead late in the first half but Edgewood would close the half on a 6-2 run to trail just 30-29 at the break.

St. Norbert shot 35.7 percent (25-for-70) from the floor and was outrebounded 50-39. Lawrence led the Green Knights with 15 points, while Talbert added 12 points, with Grzesk and Evan Glaser each added 11.

Edgewood shot 37.9 percent (25-for-66) from the floor. Eli Hartjes led the Eagles with 28 points and 14 rebounds, while Jake Schroeckenthaler added 17 points and Baierl 14 points.
