St. Norbert Charges Past St. Scholastica

Drake VandermauseDE PERE - St. Norbert College picked up an impressive 4-1 win over College of St. Scholastica in a non-conference match at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (1-0-1) were coming off a 4-4 tie with Loras College on Wednesday, while the Saints gained an impressive 2-0 win over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contender St. John's University.

St. Norbert got on the board early when Drake Vandermause cashed in a penalty kick just 2:53 into the game. St. Scholastica answered with a goal from Finigan Huffington at the 9:39 mark. Mitchell Scholz converted an unassisted strike at 28:34 for his second goal of the young season and a 2-1 lead that carried into halftime.

The Green Knights pulled away in the second half when Vandermause finished another penalty-kick chance at 60:09. Tyler Bonin then registered his first collegiate goal on an impressive breakaway off a Lucas Rojas assist in the 83rd minute.

Daniel Yurk made two saves for the Green Knights in the win, while Liam Lothian made three stops for St. Scholastica.

St. Norbret outshot St. Scholastica 9-6 and held a 6-3 edge in cornre kicks. The Green Knights also held an 11-7 edge in fouls in a relatively clean contest.
