
DE PERE - St. Norbert College posted a win in its first men's soccer match as a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference member with a 6-0 victory over Lakeland University at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights held a 1-0 lead at halftime before the lead ballooned behind five second-half goals, buoyed by a natural hat trick from
Tyler Bonin, who was playing in just his sixth collegiate game..
John OConnor led off the scoring with an assist to
Max Censky at the 19:33 mark, which would hold up for the next 38 minutes of action. OConnor then scored an unassisted goal at 57:46. Bonin got a feed from
Drake Vandermause at 61:12 for a 3-0 edge. Bonin then scored a pair of markers 59 seconds apart, scoring at 75:37 off a
Tomas Pazos assist and then finishing unassisted at 76:36.
Charlie Neitzke closed out the scoring with a goal at 85:44 with
William Jens assisting.
St. Norbert held a commanding 21-3 edge in shots and also held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Green Knights had 17 fouls to the Muskies' 10.
Daniel Yurk made one save in about 80 minutes of action to earn the win between the posts for St. Norbert.
