
DE PERE - St. Norbert College rallied late to force a 4-4 double-overtime tie with Loras College in a non-conference battle between a pair of strong NCAA Division III programs at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights were able to force overtime when
Max Censky's grounder through traffic eluded the Loras defense and tied the game at 4-4 with 1:53 remaining in regulation time.
Neither team would get a shot in the two 10-minute overtime periods, with St. Norbert getting two corner-kick opportunities.
St. Norbert jumped out to a 2-0 lead early when
Joe Meade scored unassisted at the 12:23 mark, followed by
Mitchell Scholz's strong strike with
Caden Etzel assisting at 17:40. The Duhawks would respond when Kevin Kucaba scored at 21:37 and Juan Jose Arias tied the score 2-2 at 26:14. Meade scored again at 31:10 off another Etzel helper to give St. Norbert a 3-2 lead heading into halftime.
Neither team got much offense going until Loras converted a pair of penalty kicks just 33 seconds apart just after the midway point of the second half. Jared Block and Alex Beausoleil converted the penalty kick chances at 70:29 and 71:02.
St. Norbert held a slim 14-13 shots advantage and held a 9-6 edge in corner kicks.
Nate Jocz made two saves in his collegiate debut in 74 minutes of action, while
Daniel Yurk had two stops in 36 minutes. A pair of Loras goalkeepers made one save apiece.
