
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College was swept in a key Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader by Lake Forest College by scores of 3-1 and 13-2 at Mohr Field.
The Green Knights (17-9, 10-4 MWC North) needed at least a split to keep their hopes of winning the North Division title alive. Lake Forest (23-5, 12-2) has won three of four division games against St. Norbert to earn any necessary tiebreaker and will play for the MWC Championship against the South Division champion next Saturday.
St. Norbert fell behind 2-0 in the opener after the Foresters scored single runs in the first and second innings. The Green Knights would score their lone run in the fourth inning when
Kayla Bahr's RBI groundout scored
Allison Knop, who had reached on a leadoff walk. Lake Forest would get the run back in the bottom of the inning and neither team would score in the final three frames.
The Green Knights had four hits in the game, with
Alyssa Sikora going 2-for-2.
Ellie Olsen took the complete-game loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits, three walks and four strikeouts.
Lake Forest banged out 15 hits in the nightcap, including 10 for extra bases, to take control early. The Foresters scored three runs in the first inning. St. Norbert scored a run in the second on
Morgan Moxon's RBI single, but Lake Forest would get the run back in the bottom of the inning and then scored eight times on nine hits in the third inning to pull away. Moxon had an RBI double in the fourth inning for St. Norbert's second run.
Moxon was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in, while
Sarah Koltermann was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Olsen took the loss.
