Green Knights Swept at Lake Forest

Allison KnopLAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College had its four-game winning streak snapped with a pair of non-conference losses to Lake Forest College by scores of 12-4 and 5-3 at Mohr Field.

The Green Knights (5-5) trailed 2-0 in the nightcap after the Foresters (7-3) scored single runs in the first and second innings. St. Norbert answered with three runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead. Carmen Yost reached on an error and Kayla Bahr followed with an infield single. Following a groundout and a foulout, Alyssa Sikora had an infield single to load the bases. Taylor Ullman then drove in a pair of runs on a single to tie the game, and Allison Knop's RBI single put St. Norbert ahead 3-2.

Lake Forest scored three runs on four hits and one St. Norbert error in the bottom of the sixth to take a 5-3 lead. The Green Knights got the potential game-tying run to the plate with one out in the top of the seventh but would come up empty.

Knop was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Bahr 2-for-3 with a run scored for St. Norbert, which had seven hits. Emma Wiese took the loss, allowing four hits and two earned runs in one inning of relief.

In the opener, St. Norbert trailed 4-0 after Lake Forest scored three times in the second inning and one run in the third inning. The Green Knights scored three times in the fifth inning to get to within one at 4-3. Abby Primus had a run-scoring single and Sikora drove in two runs on a double. The Foresters would get a run back in their half of the fifth, but St. Norbert got to within 5-4 in the sixth on Bahr's run-scoring groundout to plate Knop.

Lake Forest would put the game away in the sixth, scoring seven runs on five hits and two St. Norbert errors to end the game on the eight-run mercy rule.

St. Norbert had seven hits in the game, with Primus going 2-for-3. Ellie Olsen took the loss, allowing six earned runs on seven hits in five innings pitched.
