
DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened Midwest Conference North Division play with a doubleheader split against Lawrence University at Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex. The Green Knights won the opener 9-4 before dropping the nightcap 6-5.
St. Norbert fell behind 2-0 in the opener when the Vikings scored twice in the top of the third inning. The Green Knights would pull ahead when they scored seven unearned runs in the fourth inning.
Allison Knop had a run-scoring single, followed by a two-run single from
Camryn Baenen.
Sarah Koltermann had a run-scoring single and
Alyssa Sikora added a two-run double.
The Green Knights added a pair of runs in the fifth inning on a
Kayla Bahr RBI double and a Baenen RBI single. Lawrence would score two runs in the sixth inning for the game's final runs.
St. Norbert had 12 hits, led by Baenen going 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and a run scored. Koltermann, Knop and
Taylor Ullman all went 2-for-4.
Ellie Olsen scattered 13 hits to earn the complete-game win with four walks and six strikeouts.
Bahr homered in the first inning of the nightcap to give St. Norbert a 1-0 lead, but Lawrence would score one run in the second and four runs in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead. St. Norbert scored four runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 5-5. Kolterman drove in the first run of the inning with a single, while Ullman forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk. Knop then had a two-run single to tie the game.
Lawrence would score one run on three hits in the sixth inning to push ahead 6-5. The Green Knights would leave two runners on in their half of the sixth and did not get a baserunner in the seventh.
Kolterman and Knop went 2-for-4 for the Green Knights, who had nine hits.
Emma Wiese took the loss in relief, allowing one run in four innings pitched.
