
BELOIT - St. Norbert College registered 24 hits in a Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader sweep of Beloit College by scores of 3-2 and 8-2.
The Green Knights (8-6, 3-1 MWC North) trailed in the opener 2-0 after the Buccaneers fashioned three extra-base hits in the first inning. Those runs would hold up until St. Norbert rallied with a pair of runs in the sixth to tie the game.
Sarah Koltermann and
Abby Primus both singled with one out and then advanced a base on a wild pitch.
Taylor Ullman then stroked a two-run double to tie the game 2-2.
In the seventh,
Allison Knop tripled with one out and scored on
Kayla Bahr's double for the eventual game-winning run. Beloit was retired in order in the bottom of the seventh inning.
St. Norbert had 10 hits in the opener. Knop and Bahr were both 2-for-4.
Ellie Olsen earned the win by allowing just five hits - only two over the last six inning - with one walk and six strikeouts.
The Green Knights banged out 14 hits in the nightcap, scoring in four different innings.
St. Norbert scored twice on three hits in the second inning, getting runs home on a
Morgan Moxon single and
Carmen Yost sacrifice fly. Beloit would halve its deficit with a run in the fourth inning, but St. Norbert would take control with three runs in the fifth. Knop plated a run with a triple and Primus followed with a run-scoring single.
Alyssa Sikora added an RBI single later in the inning.
The Green Knights added a run in the sixth inning on a Moxon RBI double. Beloit would get just one run on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning, and St. Norbert salted the game away with two runs in the seventh on a RBI double from Sikora and a RBI single from Koltermann.
Sikora was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in. Moxon was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in, while
Lilly Haase was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Knop and Primus were both 2-for-4 with a run scored and a run batted in.
Morgyn Zielke earned the win by working six innings and allowing seven hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
