Krueger Wins 400th Game as Green Knights Hammer Ripon

JoAnn Krueger 400 WinsRIPON - St. Norbert College coach JoAnn Krueger recorded her 400th career win at the helm of the Green Knights as they swept Ripon College 11-10 and 16-8 in a non-conference doubleheader at Tracy Field.
 
The Green Knights (15-7), who have now won nine of their last 10 games, got Krueger her 400th win in the opener. Krueger becomes just the second softball coach in Midwest Conference history to record 400 career wins.
 
St. Norbert got off to a hot start by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning, with Sarah Koltermann doubling in a pair of runs and Morgan Moxon posting an RBI single. Ripon got a run back in its half of the first. St. Norbert scored twice when Allison Knop and Kayla Bahr each singled in runs for a 5-1 lead. The Red Hawks would score four times in the second to tie the game at 5-5. The Green Knights came again with three in the third, with Lilly Haase driving in a run on a grounder and Sophia Heimos and Haase both scoring on wild pitches. Ripon got two runs back in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 8-7.
 
Each team got a run in the fourth, with St. Norbert scoring on a Bahr solo home run. The Green Knights scored twice in the fifth on an Abby Primus sacrifice fly and a Bahr RBI single for an 11-8 edge. Ripon would score twice in the sixth but couldn't push the tying run across the plate.
 
St. Norbert whacked 13 hits in the opener, with Bahr going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Taylor Ullman was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Koltermann and Moxon were both 2-for-4, with Koltermann scoring twice while driving in a pair. Knop was 2-for-5 with five runs scored.
 
Morgyn Zielke earned the win, working the first six innings. Emma Wiese twirled a scoreless seventh inning to register the save.

The offensive onslaught continued in the nightcap, as St. Norbert put up 13 runs on 12 hits in the top of the first inning to take firm control.

Bahr had a run-scoring single, followed by two-run doubles from Koltermann and Moxon. Ullman and Carmen Yost then had run-scoring doubles. Knop, Bahr and Alyssa Sikora had RBI singles, while Moxon added a run-scoring groundout. Haase had an RBI double in the third inning, while Ullman drove in a run with a double in the fith.

Haase was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, while Primus was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Bahr was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a pair of runs batted in. Moxon was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in, while Ullman was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Yost and Sikora were both 2-for-4, with Sikora scoring a pair of runs. St. Norbert had 19 hits in the game.

Emma Wiese spun a complete-game win.
