St. Norbert Blanks Beloit In Doubleheader Sweep

Abby PrimusDE PERE - St. Norbert College picked up a pair of shutout wins as it swept Beloit College by scores of 3-0 and 8-0 in a non-conference doubleheader at Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

Ellie Olsen twirled a three-hit shutout in the opener, while Morgyn Zielke scattered eight hits in the nightcap. Neither walked a batter.

St. Norbert scored all three runs in the opener in the bottom of the first inning. Abby Primus and Alyssa Sikora scored when a flyball to the outfield was misplayed, and Taylor Ullman then scored on Morgan Moxon's RBI double.

Olsen allowed just one runner to second base. She struck out eight in improving to 2-2 on the season.

Primus was 2-for-3 and Camryn Baenen was 2-for-4 with a triple for the Green Knights, who had nine hits.

St. Norbert scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning of the nightcap. Sikora got things started with an RBI double, followed by a Moxon run-scoring single. Two runs then scored when a ball at first base was misplayed.

The Green Knights added a run in the fourth inning on a Carmen Yost triple and a Baenen RBI groundout. St. Norbert put the game away with a three-run fifth inning. Allison Knop's single drove in a run, and Kayla Bahr's two-run double to the base of the left-field fence ended the game on the eight-run mercy rule.

Zielke's shutout came with six strikeouts.

Primus and Moxon were both 2-for-3 for St. Norbert, which had nine hits.
