
DE PERE - St. Norbert College won for the seventh time in the last eight games with a Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader sweep of Ripon College by scores of 6-3 and 12-3 at Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.
St. Norbert (13-7, 8-2 MWC North) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings in the opener.
Kayla Bahr had a sacrifice fly to drive in
Abby Primus, who had tripled and
Sarah Koltermann doubled home
Alyssa Sikora for a 2-0 lead. Morgon Moxon then singled in Kolstermann for a 3-0 lead after one inning. The Green Knights got two runs home in the second, with Primus and Bahr both registering run-scoring doubles.
Ripon would scored twice in the third inning but St. Norbert wouldi get a run back in the fourth inning on Bahr's RBI single. Ripon would get a run in during the fifth inning, but would get no closer. Ripon would load the bases in the top of the seventh but did not score.
Bahr was 2-for-2 with three runs batted in, while Moxon, Sikora and Primus were all 2-for-3. Primus scored a pair of runs.
Ellie Olsen got the complete-game win, scattering 11 hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
The Green Knights took control of the nightcap early, putting up a rare "snowman" with eight runs in the first inning. St. Norbert had six hits during the rally.
Allison Knop led off with a triple and Primus followed with a double. Koltermann then had an RBI single, followed by
Taylor Ullman forcing in a run on a bases-loaded walk.
Carmen Yost then hit a two-run single to center field for a 5-0 lead. Ullman scored on a wild pitch, followed by a single by Primus that drove in a run and brought in a second run on an outfield error.
Ripon would have two runs in and the bases loaded with nobody out in the second inning, but St. Norbert pitcher
Morgyn Zielke worked out of the jam without further damage. St. Norbert responded with three runs in its half of the inning,
Lily Frisch would score on a passed ball, while Ullman drove in a run with a double and Yost plated a run on a single for an 11-2 edge. Ullman would add another RBI double in the fourth inning for St. Norbert's final run.
Ullman was 2-for-2 with three runs batted in and two runs scored, while Yost was 2-for-2 with three runs batted in. Primus was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, while Knop was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Zielke got the win, allowing five hits on two walks in four innings pitched.
