
APPLETON - St. Norbert College got two solid team performances and picked up a road Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader sweep of Lawrence University by scores of 7-0 and 10-2 at Whiting Field.
Ellie Olsen fired a shutout in the opener, her second of the season. She allowed just three hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.
St. Norbert (11-7, 6-2 MWC North) scored twice in the third inning.
Carmen Yost tripled to lead off the frame, followed by an
Allison Knop sacrifice fly.
Abby Primus then reached on an error and the came around to score on another error for a 2-0 lead. The Green Knights would salt the game away with five runs in the sixth inning.
Sarah Koltermann scored on a
Taylor Ullman sacrifice fly. Knop then drove in a pair of runs with a single.
Abby Primus added a run-scoring double and
Kayla Bahr a run-scoring single to round out the uprising.
The Green Knights finished the game with 12 hits. Knop was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in, while Bahr, Koltermann and
Grace Engwall were all 2-for-4.
In the nightcap, which was shortened to five innings on the mercy rule, St. Norbert banged out 12 hits and scored in all but the third inning.
Alyssa Sikora blasted a two-run double in the first inning for a 2-0 lead. Lawrence scored a run in the bottom of the first, but St. Norbert responded with three in the top of the second. Knop had an RBI double, while Primus drove in a run on a single. The Green Knights took a 7-1 lead with two runs in the fourth inning on a Sikora run-scoring single and a
Morgan Moxon sacrifice fly. After Lawrence scored a run in the fourth, St. Norbert scored three times in the fifth inning. Knop had a run-scoring single and Sikora drove in a pair with a single.
Sikora was 3-for-4 with five runs batted in, while Primus was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Knop was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two runs batted in.
Morgyn Zielke earned the win with three innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits.
