Green Knights Sweep Lawrence Behind 20-Hit Barrage

Ellie OlsenDE PERE - St. Norbert College returned to the diamond for the first time in 17 days and fashioned a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Lawrence University by scores of 7-1 and 10-5 at Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights banged out 20 hits in the two games. St. Norbert had eight hits in the opener and mustered 12 in the nightcap.

In the opener, St. Norbert rode the arm of Ellie Olsen, who carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Olsen did not allow an earned run, walked one and struck out seven in the complete-game victory.

St. Norbert scored twice in the second inning on an Alyssa Sikora solo home run and a Camryn Baenen RBI single to score pinch-runner Lily Frisch. In the third, the Green Knights had a two-out rally to score three runs. Sarah Koltermann singled and Sikora followed with a walk. Taylor Ullman then stroked a deep three-run home run to put St. Norbert ahead 5-0.

Lawrence would get a run back in the sixth on two hits and two St. Norbert errors, but left the bases loaded. St. Norbert got a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the inning when a run scored on an outfield error and another on an Abby Primus single.

Koltermann and Baenen were both 2-for-3.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert rallied 4-3 fifth-inning deficit with two runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth inning.

Baenen's one-out single in the second put the Green Knights ahead 1-0, but the Vikings scored three times in the top of the third for a 3-1 edge. St. Norbert would respond with two runs in its half of the third, with two runs scoring on an error. Lawrence scored once in the fifth inning but the Green Knights would wrest the lead back for good with RBI singles from Morgan Moxon and Lilly Haase.
